Blackcurrant slows down skin aging

Kaksi naista mustaherukan lehtien päällä makaamassa

The skin ages and is constantly exposed to harmful environmental factors that not only weaken our immune system but also accelerate the aging of skin cells.

Many anti-aging creams are designed for normal or dry skin, as a decrease in sebum production is also a natural part of aging. However, about 30 percent of Finns have oily skin, which can be a challenge even in adulthood. Even though the skin produces sebum, the surface of the skin can be dry and easily irritated.

Sensitive skin prone to oiliness needs cosmetic products that take into account the specific needs of such a target. Blackcurrant cream fulfills these needs by maintaining good skin condition and also balancing sensitive combination and oily skin.

Blackcurrant cream is developed for aging, sensitive and oily skin.

Blackcurrant contains unique active ingredients, polyphenolic compounds, which have a positive effect on skin proteins and enzyme activity. They slow down oxidative reactions, especially harmful to the skin, oxidative stress, due to their antioxidant properties. The antioxidant effect of the new Vaicute Blackcurrant cream* has been enhanced with hemp oil, which naturally contains vitamin E, and by adding vitamin E, which is one of the most effective antioxidant ingredients.

As skin ages, collagen and elastin, which maintain skin elasticity, decrease, which is visible on the skin as fine lines and wrinkles. Recent studies have found that blackcurrant phenolic compounds slow down skin aging by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme that causes the breakdown of collagen and elastin.

Combination and oily skin needs balancing.

Oily skin is prone to inflammation due to excessive sebum production. The microbial balance on the skin also changes, as does the pH properties of the skin. In inflammatory diseases, such as psoriasis and acne, the skin is more alkaline than usual. The sum of many factors weakens the properties of healthy skin.

Blackcurrant is antimicrobial, meaning it prevents and slows the growth of microbes such as bacteria. Balancing blackcurrant cream changes the skin's properties in a positive direction. It contains ingredients that moisturize, slow the growth of microbes and regulate the skin's pH.

A characteristic of healthy skin is its ability to regenerate.

The skin is constantly renewing itself and eventually flakes off from the outermost surface of the skin. With oily and combination skin, sebum binds dandruff, which also serves as food for microbes that cause inflammation. The raw materials of blackcurrant cream contain substances that soften the skin and break down cell protein, keratin. With daily use, the cream enhances the removal of impurities that accumulate on the skin and thus enhances the absorption of active ingredients and brightens the appearance of the skin.

Hemp oil is a real power oil.

Hemp oil has been found to have positive effects on atopic skin, psoriasis and acne. It contains α-, β-, δ- and γ tocopherol, i.e. different forms of vitamin E. In particular, γ tocopherol slows down skin aging.

The green color of hemp oil comes from chlorophyll, which is present in significant amounts. Chlorophyll has an antibacterial effect and since hemp oil is also non-comedogenic, it is excellent for oily skin. The unsaturated fatty acids in hemp oil make it light and easily absorbed, so it also does not cause shine on the skin's surface.

Maintaining skin moisture is the core function of a cosmetic product.

Oily skin also needs moisture. The moisture content in the surface layers of the skin should be 13% and in the inner layers 70%.

Blackcurrant cream maintains the skin's moisture balance in several ways: by forming a protective film on the skin's surface, by binding moisture with the help of humectant or moisture-binding ingredients, and by increasing the skin's own protective ability. The oils and fats in the product form a film on the skin's surface that prevents water evaporation and prevent excessive water evaporation from both the skin's surface and deeper layers, glycerin is able to absorb moisture from the environment in the amount of its own weight, and the versatile properties of all the ingredients strengthen the skin's own defenses.

The Vaicute story continues after all
The Vaicute product family suffered a great loss in May 2023 when the product creator and developer, Dr. Raisa Mäkäräinen, passed away unexpectedly. The loss was enormous in every way, and the future of the Vaicute products was also uncertain. Raisa Mäkäräinen, developer of Vaicute products. One person could hardly fill Raisa's shoes in any area, so we decided to take on the challenge of natural cosmetics with the help of three women. We founded Marion Finland Oy, which will continue to manufacture and sell Vaicute products. The name and packaging of the product family will remain in the familiar form for the time being. The operations are still in Kainuu, now in Sotkamo instead of Kajaani. Marion Finland Oy's founders are Mari Jaakkola, Marianne Mäki and Kirsi Kuvaja. All three of us entrepreneurs have a long background in the academic world of plant research. We participated in research collaboration with Raisan Terveyspirtti at the university already during the development phase of the first Vaicute product. The author of this text, the CEO of Marion Finland Oy, also worked at Raisan Terveyspirtti for half a year. The products and the company's operating environment were therefore familiar to us. Our background in plant research, quality and equipment management related to laboratory work, and domestic and international networks in the field give us a solid foundation for continuing and developing our business. The prerequisite for continuing production was also that the products were of high quality and that we could sincerely stand behind them. As a doctor, Raisa's heart was to be a bridge builder between science and the world of natural products, so that they could support each other instead of opposing each other. We want to continue strengthening those bridges and building new ones. Like Raisa, we want to invest in the best domestic plant raw materials, and utilize scientific research in product development and evaluation of effectiveness, as well as share research information in an easily understandable format for our customers. We hope that the driving force behind our work will always be joy, inspiration and enthusiasm. The most important thing why we continue to manufacture Vaicute products is the feedback from our customers. The cream, developed especially for women's mucous membranes, has been longed for back on the market. The feedback has been downright confusing. It humbles the mind, and brightens and clarifies our motivation to continue the work that Raisa started. We will do our best to continue Raisa's life's work and serve our customers with high-quality Vaicute products. We gratefully accept this inspiring challenge. Warmest regards from our entire team, Mari Jaakkola CEO of Marion Finland Oy
